About

A consultancy built around one belief.

That senior people, doing the actual work, with skin in the game, will out-deliver the alternative every time.

The short version.

I'm Alex. I run InfraDefense, a senior-led infrastructure, cloud, and security practice. The model is deliberately lean: I lead every engagement personally, with a small bench of trusted partners who join when the scope calls for it.

I've spent more than 20 years in this work, networks and systems first, then security and cloud, eventually leadership across the stack. The advisory practice came after the operating reps. That order matters. I think about technical problems through a business lens and right-size recommendations to your budget, your team's capabilities, and the return that's actually realistic.

What clients hire me for.

Most engagements start when something is genuinely broken or stuck. A stalled migration. A security program that can't get past the audit committee. A cloud strategy that's been sitting in a deck for two years. A vendor relationship that's quietly costing more than anyone wants to add up. The pattern: a leadership team needs someone who can be technically rigorous and commercially honest in the same conversation.

Engagements span US and EU markets, with client size ranging from Fortune 100 enterprises down to growth-stage businesses. The work includes public companies and critical-infrastructure operators in some of the most heavily regulated environments anywhere in the world, where sovereignty, compliance, and operational continuity are non-negotiable.

A few representative engagements:

  • Architected, planned, and supported execution of a full security program for a publicly traded distribution company, with quarterly board and audit-committee reporting.
  • Led infrastructure and security work for US and EU clients, including critical-infrastructure operators in France and other heavily regulated markets.
  • Negotiated, architected, and executed two data-center migrations within two weeks of each other, using the window to upgrade equipment, integrate security into operations, and shave well into seven figures of annual run-cost.
  • Acted as fractional security and infrastructure advisor for organizations not yet ready to hire full-time executives, translating between board-level expectations and engineering-team execution.

Background.

I came up through IT engineering and architecture, then moved into operating leadership across networks, systems, security, and cloud. Along the way, I also managed client services and held business-relationship roles with legal, risk, internal audit, and human resources. Founded InfraDefense to do the senior, end-to-end advisory work I kept watching get under-delivered by larger firms.

How I work.

  • Decks are a byproduct, not the deliverable. I measure myself on what shipped, what's running cleaner, and what your team can now do without me.
  • Right-sized beats best-in-class. I size recommendations to your budget, your team's capabilities, and the timeline that's actually real, not to a vendor's quota or a category leaderboard.
  • Vendor-honest. I don't take referral fees from anyone I recommend. The recommendation is what it would be if I were paying the bill.
  • Quiet wins compound. Good infrastructure work shows up as fewer incidents next quarter, not as a press release this one. I'd rather your team be more capable when I leave than when I arrived.
